What Experience do you have?

I have served as Vice Chair on the High School Task Force advisory committee for the previous term of council. Our mandate was to get Wasaga Beach on the Capital Priority list with the County for a High School.

In this term, I was appointed Vice-Chair of the Advisory Committee on Tourism. Our mandate was to provide guidance on the implementation of the Destination Management Plan that the Town commissioned.

I have served as a committee member for the Wasaga Beach Short Film Festival as well as the Wasaga Beach Blues Festival

I can often be seen donating food and helping cook meals at community event and fund raisers.

Do you want condos at Beach 1?

Quick answer; YES.

Long answer; I believe it is important to have residential homes mixed in with tourism activities on beach 1. The full time residents will help support our local businesses year round and not just in the busy summer months. This creates a much needed sustainable economy.

We also need to keep tourism centralized to keep it from invading the neighborhoods. There are plenty of folks that are already impacted by tourism bleeding into their neighborhoods and it isn't working for them. There are too many party houses and disruptions. We can plan better, the main end is like a blank canvas.

Should Beach Drive be re-opened?

Quick answer; YES!

Long answer; any work on beach drive should not be a liability for the tax payers. We have paid too much to have that area covered with sand, and have Mother Nature managed with constant pumps and repairs. I am happy to see Beach Drive redesigned as a pedestrian space where shop owners can use some of the space for their services as well as an extended event space for bike and car shows etc. I don't think that resuming daily car traffic is a good use of space, even though I am very nostalgic about those days.

Should the Arena/Library be delayed?

NO!

I have supported this project since day one. I have campaigned that it should be built and I have even donated my own hard earned money towards it through fund raising events. There is no chance that delaying a government funded project will save money.

I would have like to have seen other levels of government participate in the funding, as we see in neighbouring communities.
